Duration of Assignment: 1 December 2024 to 31 December 2025 (13 Months)

Organisational Background and Operational Context
RAGJ is a non-profit association established in 2013. Its focus is on promoting the voices and social and economic opportunities of girls and women in Cameroon. RAGJ is a unique learning organisation that has penetrated even the most isolated and hard-to-reach communities. RAGJ's Assets-Based Community-driven Development (ABCD) approach is the cornerstone of our actions. RAGJ is currently implementing its short-term (2021-2025 strategic) plan, which focuses on innovating and building resilience in conflict through an integrative emergency management strategy for grassroots communities and institutions in Cameroon. RAGJ runs four programs: Justice and the Rule of Law (JRoL), Governance and Democratic Accountability (GDA), Assets and Natural Resource Governance (ANRG), and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL).
Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Bamenda. The HR Assistant will support the management and execution of HR-related functions such as recruitment, employee onboarding, training support, and maintaining accurate employee records. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to humanitarian principles, cultural sensitivity, and a desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Responsibilities
Update and implement organizational programs, policies, plans, and procedures in compliance with internal rules, practices, employment laws, and applicable regulations.
Support the implementation of policies on issues such as working conditions, performance management, equal opportunities, disciplinary procedures & absence management
Write, update and develop job descriptions, person specifications, and adverts.
Assist recruitment, screening, interviewing, selection, onboarding, and orientation of staff policies, plans, work arrangements, and personnel management.
Support performance appraisal system and meetings (one-on-one and others) and workshops.
Support staff welfare (plus mental health) and administration-centered activities through employee engagement initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
Promote equality and diversity as part of the culture of the organisation.
Prepare staff handbooks, administer payroll, and maintain employee records and HR databases
with confidentiality and accuracy.
Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies and procedures and interpret and advise employees on laws, payments, and benefits.
Carry out strategy and planning activities and develop staff requirement strategies.
Collaborate with departmental/program managers to identify HR issues related to staff welfare and performance and analyse training needs and employee retention strategies.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Social Sciences.
· Minimum of three years of experience in human resources or administrative roles, preferably in the NGO sector.
· Strong understanding of HR practices and labour law compliance in Cameroon.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and multicultural environment.
· High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive employee information.
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HR management systems.
· Fluency in English and French is required; proficiency in local languages is an advantage.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
